    Hi David,

You have instigated an amazing event that has called everyone together to create their own future, encouraging us to take responsibility for own own lives and destiny. I have subscribed to your amazing Solution Box for quite some time now and I am thrilled with this fabulous book to assist us all to our greatness.

I live in Nelson New Zealand and I run Blossom House Wellness Centre. I am an Energy Healer and teacher. At Blossom we have regular classes to teach about many of the things that have come up here for so many of the participants on this forum.
I have met many people from different parts of the world who have told me that I need to take my Healing and Teaching and travel with it as they have not experienced anything like it before.
I realise that here in New Zealand we are so isolated from the rest of the world.
My goal is to write about what we do and teach here and sell them on line thus creating enough passive income to travel the world, teaching and healing as I go. You have inspired me once again to step outside my comfort zone and spread my wings.

    So Many Thanks

    Lorraine

Hello Brenda – Just met another woman from NZ, living in China. It is amazing to hear what others are doing around the world. I am doing long distance Reiki work – is that anything like the energy work you are doing?

        Hello Lorraine!
PEI! OMG – I was almost there! It was on my map and in sight! Spent 10 days in Nova Scotia- from Pomquet and Antigonish I could see PEI!

Travel, yes, travel, and share. There are places in the U.S. that are still wilderness and out of touch with the rest of the world. I live in one.
This, here and now, online, is such a special place to meet and share mutual support.

My dream life? Well, I’ve been asking around the question “If you had all the money in the world, what would you do?”

Fortunately my answer hasn’t changed: I would Write, Travel, Volunteer.
I would connect with the likes of Bill Gates and Oprah to save Africa.
I would then work with the United Nations to make aid/education/negotiations more effective and Write to help get people to support the Millennium Development Goals, hence saving the World. :)

Then as far as my other business I would buy up local ‘resorts/hostel-resorts’ in Developing Nations, make them eco-friendly, then bring in Western tourists, and donated a good portion of proceeds to the local community, like an orphanage or something similar.

And of course I would Write. News. Editorials, Blogs. Copywriting. And volunteer my time in as many countries as possible :)

Being a webmarketer, some concepts weren’t completely new to me..

but the way they were put into order and, above all, the fresh way and clearliness they were presented are a great teaching by themselves..

Sometimes not only the informations are useful, but the way they make your mind clear are a key-factor to put yourself into action!

Thanks, also for thinking to other people… that’s something I agree with completely

    David,
thank you for your book. I’ve yet to open my email to read it but all of the comments here have me eager to get to it. I was referred to you by a person I hired to write content for my websites home page. I’m self-published since Oct 09 and am trying to do all of the things to be wildly successful in marketing it.

I spent a good 20 + years in love with the wrong men. My passion is to reach as many girls/women as I can who are as I was and GET them to stop loving that bad boy more than themselves. I hope to inspire them to grow and do great things in life that make them feel beautiful and fullfilled with the help of a community of women on my website. Bonus through the sales of my book and website’s success, I’ll be donating to help animals. I also am in need of financial freedom and have very limited resources so to this point I’ve done it all myself. Appreciate anyone’s input and advice. snapoutofitgirlfriend.com
Take care and God Bless everyone’s dreams.

I have had a life of many experiences. I have many talents. I am at a point in my life where I don’t know what kind of a story to create. Currently I am sitting with no future plans, learning true inner peace.

It is my intention to take this year to learn how to trust and allow my purpose to come to me rather than seeking it.

As I was reading, I realized that there are many groups of people I could serve with my life experience. I’m choosing to focus first on helping small businesses and nonprofits deepen their purpose, refine their vision, and clarify their processes. I have done this as a part of several organizations without it really being what I was paid for, and I am absolutely passionate about helping others have a deep sense of purpose. I believe it is a key factor to success.

In twelve months’ time, I intend to have $50,000 in revenue with a growing client base comprised primarily of leaders in small businesses (1-20 employees) and nonprofits. I’ll still be living where I am today, but I envision a great deal more travel. Knowing that I will be engaging my passions, I foresee myself “working” almost every day, but at a certain point, it becomes a matter of how I am being rather than what I am doing.

At this point, the domain name(s) are purchased and I have a plan in place to keep following through step by step. Thanks for the booster rockets to get me started on this incredible journey! I’ll be blogging about it at http://www.randypartain.blogspot.com

i realize that might change direction at some point, but at least i am moving forward. I will start on the newsletter today sometime. I never realized how much info on Hep C that I have and that I can do it in layman’s terms, rather then all the medical jumble jumble. I also never realized that at some of the hep c meetings I have gone to, I do all the talking, people seem to enjoy me rambling on, and telling them if i am gonna be sick, let me do it at the casino in front of a slot machine not home in bed. They say that if I can do it, (living a full life) then they can too.
so, this is it for now.

Good Luck Sally! You might want to check out e-junkie for a shopping cart system to use for your website. I started using it when my niece, who is battling a rare childhood cancer, wanted to sell t-shirts to support her cause. It was super easy to set up, and as I recall…dirt cheap too. Your customers can pay using PayPal (which allow credit card and checking payments). Just a suggestion.

Don’t go “broader” with your vision. The whole idea is to focus in one a niche so that you can attract the right people. Once you have a niche up and making money, start thinking about other things that you want to either add to your streams of income, or incorporate into your first niche. Focus is key.

Hi Renee’ – I know you will make your dreams a reality. Let’s get a little specific, shall we? Some things to think about and identify – how much money, exactly, will it take for you to be self-sufficient?

How can you help others? What, specifically, will you do?

What does loving life mean for you?

Where do you want to travel?

Certainly, you don’t have to post your response here (unless you want to – the Universe is listening) but these are things that, if you write them out, focus on them and believe, can all become reality for you, sooner than you think.

I am writing a few books at the moment… One is a novel, based loosely on my life experiences. One is an autobiography of my life and all the drama that came with it. And one is similar to a Dr.Suess-style children’s book. Not entirely certain yet when any of these will get completed, but I am excited about the progress I am making!

    Hi David,

Thanks for your book. I’ve been reading it and really enjoying it. It’s a great mix of practical tools and inspiration. I’ve had an online business for a while now, so a lot of it I was nodding at, but I picked up a bunch of extra tools in there too.

I’d love to share it with my tribe, and to feature you in my “Agile Life” profile series on my blog, where I interview people who live Agile Lives.

An Agile Life is a life that’s seeking to embrace multi-dimensionality rather than squeezing yourself into one box or label, and a life where you’ve developed both the lifestyle and mindset to be able to move, learn and change easily, so you can easily adapt and improvise and create and be more of what you love as the world around us changes. It actually fits quite well with your model of the different types of freedom.

My website and blog is at http://www.agileliving.net/

Would you be up for answering a few Agile Living questions about your mindset and lifestyle, and then we can include a link for people to get your book? Here are the questions I’d love to have you answer:

1.) We seem to all be more obsessed with the idea of having freedom than ever before. In your book, you talk about different types of freedom. What are the different types of freedom available to us?

2.) You live a pretty agile life, with a lot of change and variety. Could you share a bit about the ways that you’ve welcomed change and variety into your life, how that’s made your life richer, and what freedoms have enabled you to do that?

3.) What do you think is the greatest thing that gets us stuck and prevents us from creating and exercising the freedom to do, experience, create and be what we love?

4.) What’s your most important tip for building a mindset and lifestyle that enables you to keep doing, experiencing, creating and being more of what you love… and get paid to do it?

    Thanks!

Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Cath

I’ve heard that we should speak of what we want as if it’s already happening, so there you go…

Thank you for the ebook, David. I’m anxious to receive the hardcover so I can underline, flip back and forth, etc. Maybe tomorrow. My 3 things for the coming year:
    1. Sell an exceptional property perfect for a writer or someone interested in privacy and sustainable living, on an island in north central Florida.
    2. Create a cistern business that would help to solve Florida’s water shortage problems.
    3. Help to further integrate and improve relations in the southern community where I live.

  36. David,

I am delighted with your vision and with this opportunity to share my dream and the dreams of others. I am a multimedia artist and entrepreneur in Montana. I have been designing an economic development business system since 9/11 that is ready to rock! I’ve gotten positive feedback from Governor Schweitzer’s economic staff, the Montana Art Council, the Yellowstone Tourism development region, local chambers of commerce and lots of local government. It is a multi-billion dollar idea. It addresses both social and economic needs of communities (and talented people) everywhere. The best part is that it is so much FUN!!!

In twelve months I want the world to know about my work and more importantly I want it to be working its magic in the lives of millions of people.

I can’t wait to share it with everyone!

1)I need seeds; which I want to get from people who would throw them away otherwise. Maybe get schools, colleges, offices and other institutions interested.

Hi VK – I saw your post and thought I’d add my two cents. You want to start right where you are at this momtn. As someone who has experience with sales and marketing, your knowledge is invaluable to others who don’t have it, and need it. I’d start first by thinking about the type of people you want to attract? What sort of things have you sold? Who do you generally attract into your life? For me it’s life/writing coaches and creative writers.

Once you get perspective on who you’d like to work with, define the method you would like to deliver your knowledge. Maybe it’s through a book – this can be a traditional book or an e-book. Are you someone who enjoys speaking in front of others and delivering your message in person? If so, focus on identifying local places where you can offer seminars or classes (adult education or libraries) – if you are in the U.S., meetup.com is a great place to start attracting people to attend your events…these can be small, intimate events to get started. Draft an outline of your talk and see what happens.

If you want to go online (it’s not necessary to get started), consider getting started with a simple blog. Blogger.com and WordPress.com are blog platforms that don’t cost a penny, and you can start sharing information immediately.

I could go on and on. The point is, do something. Use your creative energy to generate ideas – enlist some friends to go out for dinner or drinks and ask them what they think you could do. Brainstorm ideas and get them all out there to ponder. Then laser in on the one that really grabs you. Create a plan and go for it.

      Best wishes!

    David,
First off I want to thank you for you book and program. This is
exactly what I was looking for. I have struggled with dead end jobs
for several years now and even went to school but didn’t feel
satisfied. I shuttered at working like this the rest of my life. So
    thank you.

As for some advice. I am having a hard time with several things. First
is narrowing my niche. I have a few hobbies and things I enjoy but
because of things I haven’t been able to get good at them even by your
standards, (no I’m not making excuses or limiting myself). For example
I love hiking but have been on a total of ten hikes. I plan to create
a site for that after I get back into hiking once I get FREEDOM. What
I immediately thought about for an option is very broad. I have been
through loss (many loved ones have died), I have lived with financial
burden, I have worked dead end jobs, I have gained weight and am
currently losing it. I have gone from a weak individual to someone
that is constantly striving to better myself. So the idea I had was to
create a site for helping individuals with personal problems. I wanted
to create some of your “special reports”. I also enjoy writing. So I
was thinking of writing an eBook. Once my business takes hold to
continue to write. I would even like to write a novel. That’s another
story altogether. But do you see my problem? Everyone has personal
issues. I can’t think of a way to narrow it down. Yes my limiting
factor is I’m still young and so those issues aren’t experienced yet.
So one idea I had was to create the site for personal growth. Then
start with one problem. Help that grow, then add from there. Do the
research and study that I need. I however feel that is limiting me. I
want to share with people all that I know. I see people every day
struggling with so many things. I want to help them. Maybe I’m just
being impatient. Any other options or ideas you have would be great.

Also I’m still kind of sketchy on the Freedom buddy. I can see the
advantages of a partner. If they weren’t willing to be a partner i
    don’t see the benefit.

I plan to make this into a full time thing for me. I am done
struggling with money. I am tired of working hard to get someone else
rich. I have the dedication and will to make this work. I probably
will ask for advice from you again.

    Thanks again and take care,
    Jeremy R.

I can certainly understand having so many interests. If you had to choose, what is your biggest passion right now? Or two biggest passions?

It’s important to not overwhelm yourself. Take one step at a time. Stay focused. Stay motivated, because giving up is not an option.

Once you have one passion under control and you are meeting the goals that you set up for your success on it, then consider another one of your passions; but you still need to keep your 1st choice going forward.

It’s easy to let outside influences affect you, but don’t let them. Easier said than done, I know. Been there. Still there, but fighting hard for my FREEDOM. I’m on the road to freedom – just wish it would come a little faster. You will succeed if you truly want to.

      Much Success,
      Renee’

Hi Jeremy – you and I sound a lot alike. We are what some would call renaissance souls, or rainbow people. We have so many interests and passions and we feel like we have to focus on all of them to make life interesting. It takes a lot of strength to manage the mind.

Here’s an idea of how I am currently approaching the “I’ve got so many things I want to do right now,” syndrome.

I love to write, coach and teach – I am currently putting together a business that allows me to focus on all three of them- The Writer’s Coach Global Network is a professional organization for coaches, whose primary clients are writers. As the founder and creative director of this organization I write marketing material, ebooks, blog posts, etc. – I coach other coaches on a variety of topics – and I teach writers (they join to connect with a coach) about the world of writing. It couldn’t be better!!!

You say you like helping others with their problems. How about you become a coach? Try to pinpoint your ideal client – visualize the exact person you would want to attract. Build your coaching practice around that client…what do they need, want, desire. What is their major problem they are trying to solve? And no, you don’t need to be “certified” to be a coach. I successfully coached for five years before taking formalized coach training…you can too.

I wish you all the best. Meditate and be with your thoughts and you will find the right path to your destiny.

      Best wishes,
      Corrie Ann

        Hi Corrie Ann!
        Thank you for your interest.

My classes and workshops are for adults who want to improve their writing skills and regain lost grammar knowledge. I have mostly business people in my classes but there are several private university students whom I tutor. The titles have been chosen to highlight the material covered.
        At last! Grammar for Grownups.
        Paragraphs – friend or foe?
Assignment with Attitude! ( I haven’t trialled this one yet – I am still compiling the material)

I also have a couple of clients whose writing I I am ghosting. My website is being updated as we speak. I will be happy to share it with you now if you are interested but it is still being ‘fixed’. http://www.emeraldwritingandtraining.com.au

Hope this clarifies the detail for you. I will be glad to be of service.

I am looking for a way to be free things are of no interest to me only experiences. I want a life full of experiences of meeting people learning to free my mind of all the limited constricts that I have been raised with all the limiting beliefs that tell me to settle with what I have because it is so much easier than taking a risk and now I stand at the precipice of the unknown with excitement in my heart. For a new adventure lays ahead freeing myself from fear is my largest challenge and I choose to keep moving despite of it. I am resigned that money is required to achieve what I need so that I can travel from one place to another so that I can offer any wisdom so that I can learn and truley live. I hope some of what I learn from your book will help me get yet another step closer.

I visited your website. May I give you a (constructive) criticism? The very the first sentence I read is a negative. “Dreaming is the hardest thing to do…” I think it’s the easiest thing to do, making those dreams come true is much harder than actually dreaming them.
Negatives turn people off, because they’ve got to deal with hard things every day of their lives. Encourage and motivate them by starting with a positive, compelling statement.

    David,

My dream is to teach self-development online in emails, mp3′s and PDF’s. The project is called “Learn from the Giants” based on a book I’ve written/edited, “10,000 Years of Wisdom”, my first give-a-way after July 1, 2010. In addition to short daily encouraging pump-me-up emails, each week I’ll distribute a one hour MP3 called the “BASIDA Broadcasts”. BASIDA stands for the six things that define your life, they are your: Beliefs, Attitudes, Skills, Ideas, Decisions & Actions. We all have five parts that collectively make up our lives, they are our: Brain (ability to think), Body (a life-support system for our brain), Relationships, Time Management & Money Management. The finished product will be structured like a radio newscast with pre-recorded call-ins and special expert guest interviews. Subscribers can download the MP3, burn it as a CD and listen to it in the car or upload it to their iPod and listen anywhere, anytime. I am following what you’re doing and you’re headed in the right direction. Best of luck, Jim Vaughan, Editor, Learn from the Giants.

I started reading your book on the plane back from New York to Florida. What has spoken to me so far, is that I am going to narrow my focus in my help to others who are out of work. Since everyone is going down this road, I have started to think about the many out there who are still employed. My mission for them is to help them plan an annual review strategy that will almost gurantee them that they will get a raise in the neighborhood of 15% and more rather then the usual 2% cost of living increase. My method is to teach the candidate to take charge of the interview and to prepare them so well that they sell their boss on additional money because they really deserve it, not because they need it.
If I can effectively do this,I will have build a repeat business customer who will come back to me at least once a year for advise. Then I can teach them the other tricks I have in my bag.
Thanks so much for getting me off dead center.
        I will keep you posted.

Hello Holly, J, Ebony, J and All!

My story is pretty crazy and my life to most of the world is a disaster but….I am happy I have been getting a pretty clear message for years about a Tropical Spa Retreat I am supposed to open. Last year I experienced 7 foreclosures, a divorce and bankruptcy. I cashed in my life insurance policy to move to Panama where I had lined up a place to stay and an idea of how I would make money while I worked on my business plan to get the Spa Retreat going there. Nothing I had set up worked out how they were anticipated and a friend in Costa Rica said if I could make it there I could regroup at her place. I checked out possibilities in Costa Rica in case that was where I was supposed to set up shop. While I had some awesome “National Geographic” experiences, after a couple months I realized that wasn’t the place for me of the retreat center. A friend helped me back to FL and in a few weeks I went to CA to visit my kids and parents and investigate a business proposal. The dream opportunity was handed me on a silver platter. Someone wanted to partner with me in setting up a similar Spa Retreat in CA then expanding to another location like…Panama. The money was there and I have many connections in CA. No matter what I did, I couldn’t generate an ounce of enthusiasm about the deal. When I did tell the people about my decision not to be involved, I felt high and happy. Now I am back in FL helping my friend with some of his business/personal organization in exchange for a roof, food, transportation and even occasional entertainment. I’m not sure How I will manifest the Spa Retreat but I know if it is for everyone’s highest good, the Universe will show me the next door to walk through. I don’t enjoy doing a lot on the computer as I prefer being out in nature so it is my intention to manifest a similarly minded partner who knows the computer and is passionate about playing in front of it. I know part of my mission on this planet is to be a teacher so I know I’m doing that living every day of my life in joy no matter what comes my way. For now I have a blog http://www.universal-wellness.blogspot.com which I share with a number of folks who are interested. I also have a web-site with tons of awesome potential but just don’t want to spend the time learning how to make everything work (did that already then the whole program changed). So basically I am following the paths I am shown and have no regrets for any points along the journey. Since my main goals are peace and happiness, you could say I’m reaching them every day.

Thanks for reading, thanks for your shares and thanks David for getting this powerful, positive ball rolling!
    Love & DeLight ~ Michelle

For me …. wish to make a home based business (for now) that grows and grows and grows. It’s a HUGE concept that starts with sharing methodologies for conscious parenting, and generally living from our most natural state, love. It has many legs – creativity, education, experience, writing books, speaking engagements, conferences (playshops) etc. I shall expand more as I go through this process.

I look forward to helping others to help themselves and consequently, helping our universal energy and connection. YAY! Here’s to the fun.

I am currently using a number of modalities, including Nikken products, to help me help others. As my own website is still being created (www.bodhiandme.com) I am sharing my Nikken website ie http://www.enikken.com.au/globalhum. Happy to join all of we who are being paid for who we are. Yay!

  75. Hi, David, I have not started reading yet, because some pages are missing, but I did look through the beginning and I love your attitude, your compassion and your common-sense – an unusual combination! I’ll now start reading it anyway, because I feel a great relief to be able to earn some “means of Exchange” but was held back by guilt about focussing on money. Your approach uncovers a lot of guilts and fears for me. My passions are rhythm in poetry, dance and in most aspects of life. My cosmic dance continues, even though I am an elderly widowed pensioner. I should have been in the world of drama, as I still feel like a 25-yr-old, dance and drum like a 40-yr-old and feel a joie de vivre which is not always acceptable to “normal” people in this insane world. So in spite of my age, I still want to achieve a career entertaining people with dancing, poetry and rhythm, also in the therapeutic sense. I am severely restricted through lack of money, but also lack of confidence. Thank you, David, for bringing compassion and sanity into a field that is usually a “dog-eat-dog” area. How can I communicate with you when I come to the missing pages?

    Love and gratitude, Mindi

I can totally relate to you when you say that although being in a mature body you still feel internally young, but i look at it from a positive point of view: everything in life has its price and the price of age comes with a maturity and approach to life that is priceless. I wouldn’t want to be a day younger than I am because it would mean losing a day of my life experience. Instead I love, nurture, nourish and treat my body the best I can every day, and keep it as fit and healthy as possible so that it can support my young and vivacious spirit.
Lots of Love & Light to you.

    Hello everybody,
A couple of month ago, well, almost a year I’ve discovered this new way to a different life, created by me and not by others. So I’ve been reading a lot of books to get a bit of the experience of enlighten people, I saw movies and most important I’ve started to get to know myself from zero. To find the real me, behind the Ego. And I am on the right track so I decided to become some sort of a waiter: I put the plate with goodies on the table (information about a different way of life) and if somebody wants to take a bite, I am happy to join him. If not, no harm done). I also made a free services to anyone just to make friends: http://www.traiesteliber.ro (that is live free in romanian language) and there are people that enjoy it already. My wish is to grow this website into a motivational and spiritual one, where people find themselves! I want to be free from all imaginary ropes that hold me back! So I am already celebrating an idea of helping especially children first to receive through school cafeteria a $1.00 green smoothie a week then going to give them a raw food meal a month to increase their health and education through perfect health. All that on their own free will.. This is a first idea. I have many more but I have to begin by one. So in September it will be in full action.

Your book has created quite a dilemma! When I first read through it and did all the things suggested in Chapter 3 and Section B to find my ‘niche’, I came out with a certain topic. But then the more I thought about my life and the more potential ‘freedom buddy’s introduced themselves to me, I realised there are multiple things I can share. So where to begin. What is the most important one to choose? Which one helps the most people? Which one will help ME the most to fulfil my purpose? I am now more confused than ever :)

Lisa, I suggest you make a list of all the things you have to share and then pick the one you think would appeal and be helpful to most people. That’s a start. If it works you can add the others later, if it doesn’t you try the next one on your list and so on.

Thank you Anna. I guess I’m hesitant to share what I know best, because I’ve tried in the past in the form of a book but nobody seemed to need it. I have spent 30 years in the music industry and know the business inside and out. I also know the importance of the psychology behind being a successful artist, and that’s what I know best that I can share. If anyone has a suggestion for a website title, I’m open to it!! :) Thanks again Anna.

Your book came to me in such a way that i really think it was divine intervention. I read the success pricipals 2 years ago and managed to lose
75 pounds and leave a REALLY unhappy marriage. Since I was a stay at home Mom for 14 years and no college education I was terrified at the prospects of having to go get a job. Over the years I have educated myself on so many topics and when your book came to me I thought, “What the hell could I Teach”. I went from a Fat Frumpy miserable HouseWife to A Fabulous Fit Happy Person. Still not sure how I’m going to do this but I’m jumping in!!!

    Hi everyone,
It always is so interesting to read these posts as it drives home the fact that there are so many people all over the world with the same thoughts and problems!
I have a general question/comment for those “Think & Grow Rich” and Esther Hicks readers-and I am one of you :)
Like many of you, I want my financial picture to be one of abundance, not lack, and I know I have to focus on what I want and how I feel, rather than focusing on what I don’t want and how I stressed I feel. My question (or more of a comment really) is how to “flip the switch” and mean it when you are having stressful financial thoughts, e.g. rent is due soon and I hope I have it! Also, are there others out there who have become freaked out when a bad thought gets in for fear of manisfestation of that thought?
I look forward to your comments :)

      Hi David (and Holly):

I truly loved this book, and sent the link off to friends who I knew would be inspired by your work.

I am replying to Holly´s comment–about creating a mindset of abundance in the midst of the appearance of lack. I am conducting a thought experiment to show how to do just that. For her, and others like her, I would suggest daily meditation, and affirmations. What worked wonderfully for me was focusing on a specific time goal (as in TGR), and inundating myself with prosperity teachings (such as Abraham, Hill, Wattles, Proctor, etc). Also, check out Sandy Forester´s work.

All it takes is your making the decision to see the outcome you desire–no matter what! And steering yourself back on course when you start to forget the Truth.

Have fun with it, and ask yourself for guidance!

Thanks again David…you have helped me more than you could know!

      Sincerely,
      Ebony Watts

Aargh! I wrote a long reply then accidentally(?)lost it. (Maybe it needed to be shorter).
I now have a 2 pronged ‘attack’ when negative thoughts come up.
        1. Instead of beating myself up for having the negative thought I pat myself on the back for having recognised what I’m doing. I used to believe I was at the mercy of my thoughts, with no control over them. But you can step back and look at what they have to teach you. Look below the surface for the underlying belief that gives rise to it, then ask for guidance on how to deal with that, knowing that help will come if you’re open and ready to receive. And drum up those feelings of gratitude and joy for the answer – it really is true that gratitude brings the solution, not the other way round.
        2. Give thanks for the hidden blessing in the situation, even if you can’t yet see it. Take the time and effort to imagine how you would feel if you could actually see the hidden blessing, and enjoy that feeling NOW. Often we refuse to acknowledge the hidden blessing because we feel guilty about it – like when my youngest son decided to live with his dad – heartbreaking! – but it meant I could get my degree and a fantastic job much more easily, and enjoy being a student in my 40′s (and I didn’t ‘lose’ my son as I’d feared)
I’ve been through some horrible stuff (haven’t we all?) but everything I’ve ‘suffered’ has led me to where I am now and made me stronger and more compassionate.
Oh dear, it got long again! :)
How about giving my suggestions a try? Nothing to lose and everything to gain!
Hang on in there, you’re on the right track.
        Much love.

The hardest bit is making the first shift from a negative to a positive outlook, a bit like pushing a car. Once you’ve got going and find it works it’s easier and easier. I suppose the ideal would be to get a really good roll going, then hop in and coast along for the rest of the journey – but we all have bends and uphills to deal with. It’s a great journey. Actually when I’ve thought of my life’s journey I’ve seen myself on foot. Maybe it’s time to hop into my super solar-powered 4×4 and really cruise along.
Extra thanks again for your reply, cos otherwise I wouldn’t have come up with that and I plan to enjoy playing with that idea for a while.

    • Hi Holly! Thanks for sharing your awesome question/comment.

I’ve been blessed with a pretty awesome/interesting personal story to share:

I’ve been living and running my business out a studio in the basement of a large home for 3 years. The landlords are stunningly loving people (as I tend to attract ;) ).

Recently, due to a series of extremely interesting events, it’s been awkward to pay them rent. First time I was late in 3 years, then 2nd time lol.

Then they had a ‘chat’ with me.

To some people this is a foreboding, life-threatening, scariest-thing-ever.

It definitely felt awkward, and I listen to my feelings.

And it is certainly a chance to indulge in un-abundant thinking:

“Oh no, I can’t pay rent, no money’s coming in, etc.”, and depending on where you’re at in life, it can certainly be tempting, and many people would.

      So what did I do?

I told my landlord it was not fair to him, or myself to keep imposing on their generosity/patience, if signs from the universe are saying “J, dude… we’re not letting you pay rent here, you have to move, or become more miserable.”

So I gave them notice and I immediately felt MUCH better.

I’d paid last month’s, so I had a month breathing space to find a place to live.

1 week later, outstanding accounts had paid up, a tax check came from the gov’t. and 3 people referred 3 new clients.

After months of stagnation, I felt like I’d been rewarded/guided by the universe for making the ‘right’ decision.

1 week after that I had SIX people offer me a place to live, 2 of them strangers, 4 of them for free.

      Still,
I did not panic or rush into any decision. I kept doing my thing, helping clients, working on products, publishing content, and setting up events!

And I put out some more feelers, for an even BETTER place.

As the end of the month approached, I STILL had not chosen to make arrangements with anyone.

Now this is another socially atypical decision, as most people would begin to secure a place, take people up on their offers, and let them have some notice that they’d be receiving a new tenant.

For me, it did not feel right though. I always do what feels right. All the places were miles away and tiny, and I feel like the heart and pulse of the city. I do things there :) Long travel and commute, though I’m super comfortable with them and have done it tons of times in life — felt awkward. And I always listen to my feelings, so I chose different thoughts.

6 days before I had to move, I was mostly packed but with NO IDEA where I was going. My business and life seemed to be in chaos. To anyone looking, I’m completely f***ed up.

Still I did what felt right.

5 days before I had to move, I posted on craigslist looking for a free/cheap place to live. That night, someone responded and said they had a lot of space, they’re usually in New York, and they’d love some “good energy” to liven up the place.

Yes, I felt touched by God, like a miracle. One day I just decided, I’m moving this month. Told the landlord. Then I proceeded to refuse offers of places for the entire month. Then I posted some random-shot-in-the-dark-craigs-ad and had an instant response, offering me a free space for being awesome.

      Who does this?
      Lol!

      Anyway,
4 days before I had to move, I setup a meeting with the guy. Turned out the place was an art studio in The Beaches — a coveted, quaint, upscale, highly desired neighborhood — in the heart of the city.

      omg.

      Pure awesome :)

      How did I manifest that?

Faith, trust, love, acceding control to the universe, believing in miracles, being ballsy and crazy and doing what FELT RIGHT. I always follow my feelings.

Did worrying feel right? Nope, it felt like s***. So I didn’t worry.

Did running around chasing clients or houses feel right? Nope, it felt crappy. So I didn’t do that.

What felt right? What felt right was to push it til the end and anticipate the inevitable miracle. Similar to Ebondy, I ‘inundated’ great word myself with spiritual teaching after spiritual teaching, but this was merely an after-effect of my own determined thought to do what feels right.

So there’s my story, I hope you’you guys are able to gain some value from it. Thanks so much for giving me a chance to share.

Holly you rock, thanks for inspiring ME to this outpouring.

David, you rock, I love what you’re doing and how you’re inspiring so so many.

    • Hi Holly,

I have been putting together an economic development business system which is ready to launch in the Yellowstone National Park area where I live. I now have so much support from state and local government, chambers of commerce, tourism development groups, economic development groups, art councils and others that I no longer have any doubts or fears about its success.

But that has not always been the case. I’ve had to endure more poverty and more rejection than I ever dreamed. I’ve learned a mighty lesson–I always survived, no matter how tough things got. There was always a save that came from out of nowhere. What I’ve learned is faith. The last one was the hardest. I ended up in a hope house because I was literally panicking because the economy recessed to a point where I couldn’t find a job and for five months I had to beg to survive–literally. It was very humbling. I live in a small Montana town and it’s not a good place to be hit by a recession just as winter sets in. Tough stuff…

Yet just as has always happened, a miracle occurred and I was saved emotionally and economically. Now I have a rocking business system that has the power to generate billions of dollars and do so much good… courage and faith go hand-in-hand. It’s true.

    Hi David –

12 months from now, my lovely wife and I will be spending our days creating “content,” while the systems to which you have introduced us will be churning away in the background, making money while we sleep! I only read the book a couple of days ago – in one sitting, but in that short amount of time we have settled on a tag, “We help folks become more self-sufficient, on a shoestring,” settled on a business name, “Shoestring Sufficiency,” established a website with Weebly, upgraded to Pro, established an account with Mailchimp, began work on our first newsletter, began collecting contact info for the newsletter distribution, launched a Facebook page, started laying the groundwork for a conference call session (as you described), and other stuff, too! We are working on the systems now, so they will work FOR us later.

Thanks so much for the inspiration, but also for the practical step-by-step instruction. You are, Da Man. :-)

Well David, after you look at my blog, which is all over the place, you can tell that I am a born traveler, even as a child growing up poor, but really didn’t know I was, my parents never let us think or feel like that. I was the youngest, and the one that never wanted a government job, I wanted to work for myself, and travel. I wanted to be a fashion buyer, almost happened, but went to Europe with school, that was it. I started traveling, living in Hawaii, and almost Berlin, Athens, Barcelona and where I made friends, I would call home. Coming from a black family from the south, then moving to LA in the late 40′s your parents were still fearful and not very trusting of white people. You see, I would spend weeks and be the only black person on photos sent home to my family. They worried about me. Although my Dad was the main reason why those travel benefits were so important. He came from a large family, and he attended every birthday, wedding, funeral, graduation and it didn’t matter where and when, he was on a plane going somewhere to be with family. He even ended up on one of my layovers in Honolulu, and I saw pic later. So now that I took the early retirement and my dad has passed, it is still in me. I am now an Interior Designer, not working, and doing some network marketing, not working, and I need to make a plan, make some money and get on a plane. I’m a giver, money hasn’t meant much until now, I’ve always had access to it.I really would love for people to find their passion, and pursue it. Is this a book or a story, not sure, but it’s my life. P.S. I never got around to having children, I love being aunt Debbie, and relationships were few and far between too. Trust me, there is a lot more…

    Dear David,

Your book is simply brilliant and very inspiring, thank you so much for sharing it with us!

What do I want my life to be 12 months from now?

First, my husband would have a job(he has been out of job for 12 months now). I am on my way to having a child.

Second, we’ve moved to a new home: new house, new neighborhood.

Third: everything else in my life, from inside out, has been improved: my health is better, my character has changed from shy to more out-going, we are having more good friends.

Fourth: I am on my way of building a career I’ve always desired, in which I can use my God-given talents.

I love your book, David, “getting paid for who you are” is a brilliant idea.

This is a great page turner with heaps of gems throughout. I enjoy reading books over and over almost until I can remember verses I see this as one of those great books to recommend, pass along, keep on the night stand, read while on a flight and so forth… you get my drift.

David once agin I Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do. I look forward to the day our paths meet and we can talk about this great gift that you have extend to all.

    Thank you,
